Shiny hair applies to nearly every post on the site, but is only tagged on 127k posts [at Danbooru...]
It's not an indicator of hair being shinier than normal. Any shinier and it's usually just comically radiant blonde hair, glowing hair, or wet hair.
We really don't have to follow every single tag decision Danbooru makes, and this is one I disagree with (but I'm on the fence about the shiny hair tag being nuked because there are posts that don't feature hair being shown as shiny at all (like any post that has a flat-color type of style.)
In my eyes shiny is used for the aforementioned tags shiny hair, shiny clothes, and shiny skin), but also applies to other things in the image which are also shiny (like, say, a car sitting in the sun reflecting the sunlight or something.)

I disagree with deprecate/nuke "Shiny hair" tag.
at least for me it has been useful on several occasions, the same with "shiny clothes" tag.
for example is useful when there is a metallic sheen
e.g. when there is a character with silver hair instead of a dull gray color
on the other hand, shiny tag seems to me so ambiguous that it is better to specify, I even prefer shiny background tag rather than just shiny tag.

Maybe shiny could be renamed to shiny_object? If that's the case then the implications could be removed and it could be used with its own purpose separate from the rest.
The tag shiny feels like it's supposed to be used in cases where none of the current shiny_* tags applies. For cars and big objects, I feel like sunlight works better, and for smaller objects, I'd say there should be a tag such as shiny_object or something rather than dumping everything into shiny, since if you search something like shiny jewelry you can get posts that are shiny jewelry car for example with a shiny car and normal jewelry.
Personally, I would also deprecate shiny, but garden the posts to match some kind of shiny_* tag or sunlight.
As for shiny hair I kinda agree but I don't mind it staying either. For extremely shiny hair there ought to be a solution to tag it something like glowing hair I suppose.
