The fruit of the coconut palm. It has a hard brown shell, which holds edible white flesh; the liquid inside the cavity is called coconut milk. The entire fruit is covered by a fibrous outer husk which is usually removed before the coconut is further processed.
Coconuts vary in appearance, ranging from having a smooth green shell, to a yellow one, and of course the common brown color that is covered in bark strips.
