    亀甲文

A hexagon pattern used in traditional Japanese art. Literally "tortoise shell design". Kikkoumon are used in family crests as well as repeated in different combinations to form various patterns.

Besides the Japanese context, kikkoumon can be distinguished from similar patterns like honeycomb in that they often have multiple thick borders, and may have flowers or other traditional motifs inside them.
