Character from Hunter x Hunter, a chimera ant with ant, human and cat genes. Also known as Pitou.
No confirmed gender, although speaks with the male pronoun "boku". Originally referred to as a "he" (kare) in an official guidebook, but the artist changed it to a more ambiguous term in a later guide. Has a prominent bust in the anime, but a flat chest in the manga. Furthermore, wears female clothing in media related to the anime and was VA'd with a feminine voice. It can be presumed that the manga version was intended to be androgynous and genderless (or originally male), whereas they're unambiguously female in the anime (or maybe got retconned completely). As such, can be considered an archetypical catgirl.
Neferpitou's name is derived from the Egyptian deity, Nefertem and their nickname is derived from a French book known as "Caroline et ses Amis."
