A media franchise originating from an American science fiction film series about a post-apocalyptic war between an artificial intelligence called Skynet and the survivors of the human race. Both sides use time travel in an attempt to stop or win the war before it happens. Major stars in one or more films in the series include Arnold Schwarzenegger as the titular Terminator (an antagonist in the first film but a protagonist after) and Linda Hamilton and Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor.

Six movies have been produced: The Terminator (1984), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Terminator Salvation (2009), Terminator Genisys (2015), and Terminator: Dark Fate (2019). Also, a TV series based on the same universe called Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was released in 2008.
