monitor top refrigerator

A refrigerator design introduced by General Electric in 1927 and produced into the mid 1930's before being replaced with the more modern "Flat Top" design. They're an iconic design for their large cylinder or dome-shaped compressor atop the refrigerator. The initial cylinder shape was reminiscent of the cylinder shaped turret of the USS Monitor ironclad ship, thus the name "Monitor Top."
