He is the friendly rival of Ryo Sakazaki.

Despite his Italian heritage, he practiced the Dragon Disciple of Kyokugenryu Karate under the mentorship of Takuma Sakazaki. He then became the first ever foreigner to execute the series' most famous Haoh Shoko Ken.
