yuudachi (kancolle)

夕立 夕立(艦隊これくしょん) 夕立(艦これ) ぽいぬ 夕立改二

Yuudachi (夕立, lit. "Evening Shower") is the fourth of ten Shiratsuyu-class destroyers personified in Kantai Collection.

Appearance

In both her pre-remodel and remodeled form she wears a black serafuku matching the rest of the Shiratsuyu-class. She has green eyes, straight long blonde hair and a black hair ribbon on top of her head.

Her remodel greatly changes her appearance. Her hair becomes messier, with dog-like hair flaps and a red gradient, and she now wears a hairclip alongside with her ribbon. Her eyes are now red and her clothes become more ornate. It's implied she matures physically as well (this is partially confirmed in the anime), so many fan-artists draw her with far more notable breasts. Furthermore, her firepower's potential is practically on par with some of the heavy cruisers, making her very popular.

To date, Yuudachi's remodeled form has been given five seasonal official alternate costumes. For New Years 2015, she wore a red/orange floral print kimono and wore her hair in a ponytail. For Mid-Summer 2015, she wore a bikini skirt styled after her normal serafuku and had even longer hair . For Rainy Season 2016, she wears a raincoat and rain boots. For the promotion with Nakau during autumn 2016, she wore a casual outfit consisting of a yellow/cream shirt, a black skirt and a red cardigan. She is holding a serving of Nakau's kitsune udon. Most recently, for Halloween 2019, she is wearing a werewolf costume (or is it really just a weredog costume?), the hood also "wearing" Yuudachi's signature ribbon. Some of her items are replaced with Halloween variants, like her star pins, which become pumpkin pins. This is the only seasonal shared with her unremodelled self and every change has been accounted for. The only difference is that Unremodelled Yuudachi wears only one of the pumpkin pins (normally, she wears no pins).

There also seems to be some sort of creature who looks like her...

Personality

She has a carefree, pugnacious yet unsure and worrisome personality. Has the verbal tic "-poishui" (-ぽい).

Yuudachi's "dogness" upon remodel seems to have inspired other personifications of the destroyer, the Warship Girls R version has fake dog ears and a doge-like expression while the Azur Lane version is a dog girl outright along with the rest of the Shiratsuyu-class.

Her unremodeled form regained popularity after being part of a trio with Mutsuki and Fubuki in the Kantai Collection anime. She does gain her remodeled form in the events of the show.

Trivia

She was designed by Kujou Ichiso and is voiced by Tanibe Yumi.

Her remodel's change in appearance and personality alludes to her alleged performance in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal and her nickname, "Nightmare of Solomon". Her artist tweeted that her hair flaps were to reflect her "ferocious hound"-like history during her final battle. While the historical Yuudachi was indeed present during the battle, the name "Nightmare of Solomon" was the name US Marines stationed on Guadalcanal christened a night bombardment - a night bombardment that Yuudachi did not participate in.
