Becoming a Mod/Approver?

Posted under General

How does one get to a higher role? I'm curious into what the process is to become an approver. I'm still new to the site so I'm sure it won't be anytime soon but, I've been using AIBooru almost like a social media since I've found out about it. Checking almost every new post and liking, disliking, or commenting on them. I have a pretty good sense of what can be approved based on each category (General, Sensitive, Questionable, Explicit), thanks to the Wiki having a great explanation for it, and I have ran into a few older posts that haven't been approved yet, which is kinda why I decided to ask. Idk what the process is, but I would love to make an application or something to become an approver! <3

Becoming an Approver generally requires becoming a Contributor first. You can be promoted to a Contributor when you make a fair amount of good uploads and have good tagging practices, I would say. Builder is also given to users that help the site in some way, either with tagging/tag-gardening, wiki work, ect. It's not something you apply for, but if someone that can promote you takes a special notice, it may happen.

About being promoted to Moderator... I have nothing there. It's Fred's and/or Talulah's decision who they trust enough to give that role to and my promotion felt like a fluke more than anything.

Awesome! Then if that's the case, I don't really think I wanna be moderator, maybe builder, but I would love to work for approver/contributer. So far I'm really active and enjoying the site, so as long as I keep up with it, hopefully I'll be promoted sooner or later~! Thank you! :3

Not a problem. Good luck!

You can also appeal posts if you think they are high enough quality that they should have been approved. It is possible to appeal others' posts as well. It is generally advised though to wait at least a few weeks before appealing a post that has just been deleted, since the approvers can be in a different mood / other approvers might be available at a different time.

As for a higher role, tag gardening (adding missing tags to posts) and help:home have a good list of what can be done towards the site and making your way up to Builder. help:users has a great snippet at the very bottom about promotions.

Thanks for the info~! I'll look more into appealing posts further down the line but, I've been using those two help sites you sent and working very hard adding tags to posts (tagme), and hopefully I can contribute just a little bit by doing so. Plus, its helping me train to recognize tags within a post. Thanks~!
