As mentioned, it's almost the same concept, but not precisely. You can still use an image as a reference by writing up the prompt you'd think would give a very similar result, especially when it is possible to use artist tags as prompts at times. Moreover, a person who used img2img would know the term already, so making it an alias for utility doesn't make sense.

I suggest we alias and create new tags for reference specificity, what do you think?
For example:
For prompt inspiration from other pictures: prompt-text-inspired-by-image
For game img2img : game-screenshoot-referenced
For anime img2img : anime-screenshoot-referenced
For general posing and blender etc 3d img2img : 3d-referenced

Just some ideas that might make thing more clear.
